Broadway funny guy Michael McGrath earned a 2012 Tony Award for his 10th Broadway show, the Gershwin tuner Nice Work If You Can Get It.
McGrath won in the category of Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his work as Cookie McGee, butler to millionaire Matthew Broderick. McGrath has been playing the role since 2001, when he appeared in an earlier incarnation of the show called They All Laughed at Goodspeed Opera House.
"It's a thrill for me, performing on Broadway," McGrath said when he took to the stage to collect the trophy. "It's what I wanted to do as a kid and I'm getting the chance to do it."
McGrath said he had a list of people to thank "as long as a football field" but focused on his family ("watching in Worcester, Mass.") and his actress wife Toni DiBuono ("She's been with me the entire run.")
